Check out ReSale Art, which was featured in our half hour special about collecting art. The gallery specializes in original art that has come back on the market – sometimes even works by artists no longer living.

The Marriage of Figaro

  • PSU’s Student Opera presents Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro in English. One of Mozart’s most famous works, Figaro is a timeless piece in performance opera.

The Bobby Torres Ensemble

  • When: September 4th
  • For music fans, The Bobby Torres Ensemble -- an 11 piece Latin Jazz band will liven things up at Jimmy Mak’s on Saturday, September 4th. They’re playing 8 pm to 11:30, but the first set, which ends around 9:30, is open to minors. This show tends to sell out, so make your reservations!

Long Day’s Journey into Night
  • Where: Newmark Theatre, Portland
  • When: Through September 5th
  • If you don’t hurry, you won’t be able to see Eugene O’Neill’s famous play: Long Day’s Journey into Night…it’s expected to sell out. This is a co-production of Artist’s Repertory Theatre and the Sydney Theatre Company – they opened in Australia and are closing in Portland. It runs through September 5th at the Newmark Theatre on Broadway in Portland with evening and matinee performances.

Jim Riswold “Marie Antoinette’s Head and Oth
  • Where: Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art U of O campus, Eugene
  • When: Through September 5th
  • Art beat Alum Jim Riswold is featured at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of art now through September 5th. Titled: “Marie Antoinette’s Head and Others” the show features his satirical photographs that are so creative and fun and often dangerously funny. The Schnitzer Museum is located on the University of Oregon Campus.

Art in the Pearl

  • When: September 4th, 5th & 6th
  • The annual “Art in the Pearl Arts and Crafts Festival is a great opportunity to visit with artists such as Chris Giffen, and it’s the perfect time to add to your own art collection. It’s September 4th, 5th and 6th in Portland’s North Park blocks along NW 8th. Admission is free and it’s a great family event. You’ll see lots of Oregon Art Beat Alums, too!

Toledo Art Walk

  • The fall Art Walk in Toledo happens Labor Day weekend, featuring a number of artists, with live music and an art raffle. The Public Library will also host a showing of artwork by local high school students.

Two-Timer Art Show
  • Where: Mississippi Studios 3939 N. Mississippi, Portland
  • When: September 8th 6PM
  • Two-Timer is a combination of art reception and rock show, as Mississippi Studios displays artwork from 13 noted Portland musicians. Afterward three bands perform for free as part of the reception.

James O’Keefe Retrospective
  • Where: The Arts Center Gallery, Corvallis
  • When: Reception September 9th
  • The Art Center is holding a reception for Oregon Coast artist James O’Keefe from 5:30-7PM. O’Keefe’s art consists of transforming everyday objects into assemblage art. The retrospective goes until September 18th.

  • Artists of Eastern Oregon Exhibition features over 30 Eastern Oregon artists at the Nightingale Gallery on. A wide display of works will range from fused glass to photography.

Earthly Delights: Marilyn Briggs Retrospective
  • Where: Rogue Gallery and Art Center, Medford
  • When: August 20th –September 11th
  • Artist Marilyn Brigg’s work of oil paintings, fabric sculptures, and mixed media from the 1960s till now will be on display at the Rogue Gallery in Medford. The opening reception is on August 20th from 5-8pm so be sure to drop by.

  • This is the 143rd American Watercolor Society’s international Exhibition, exhibiting incredible watercolor paintings from their society members and the juried award winners. This is its only exhibit in Oregon, so be sure not to miss it!

Riffn’ & Tapping

  • Renowned tap dancers come together with top musicians to present Jazz and Tap, an American art form. It’s all about rhythm will be telling the story.

  • To really understand the man and his sculpture, you just have to pay his studio a visit. It’s an amazing place. From Bandon, head northeast on highway 42 south - that’s toward Coquille. When you enter Riverton, look for the giant mushroom statue… you can’t miss it.
