Jazz Violinist Eddie Parente
The violin is an unusual instrument for a jazz musician, but Eddie Parente is well known as a musician and improviser, and is able to make a living as a violinist. He plays classical and Celtic music as well, and that requires a lot of practice. A computer program provides accompaniment when he practices alone in his home studio.

Gene Flores is a master printmaker who also teaches printmaking at Portland Community College. His own surreal work often draws on his Catholic and Hispanic background for imagery. His pieces are full of detailed, dreamlike scenes that sometimes have a political message.

Teacher and Dancer Chungliang Al Huang
Internationally renowned teacher and dancer Chungliang Al Huang blends the flowing movements of tai chi with the intricacies of European classical music. He performs at the Oregon Bach Festival, combining movement and calligraphy onstage, and leads a tai chi class for visiting conductors. At home in Gold Beach, he reflects on his career synthesizing the art of east and west.
