- Mitsuki Dazai is an expert at playing the koto. She plays traditional Japanese music as well as bluegrass and other unexpected tunes. She teaches, performs, and is donating a koto to the University of Oregon for a display of musical instruments from around the world.

- College student Felicia Capuia works with acrylic paints, using photos from Zambia, where she was born in a refugee camp. She doesn't remember Africa, so her paintings of family members and African scenes are a way to meditate on her background. The images are bright and look like murals.
